Former Eccles team mates compete in county charity fixture

Saturday 29th December. KO 2pm. 

Lancashire Royals 19-45 Anti-Assassins.

Two Eccles 1XV players Will Parkinson and Cameron Oates were selected for the Lancashire Royals   this afternoon at Wigan RUFC. And two former Eccles players Tom Waring and Drew Frey were selected for their oponants, The Anti-Assassins.

The game began with Will Parkinson scoring a try for the Royals in the 3rd minute. Things were all square, 19-19 at half-time, before the AAs ran away with it in the second half, concluding with a try from Tom Waring in the final minutes. FT 19-45.

The Lancashire Royals team was formed in 2016 to provide an opportunity for talented club players, competing at Levels 5 and under, to represent the County.

The Anti-Assassins are an invitation team formed of selected players from the northern counties of England. The A-As were first founded in 1950 to play against the masters and Old Boys of Sedbergh School, Cumbria (The Assassins) and have continued since then to play friendly, fund-raising, charitable matches, against teams across the North of England, HM forces, and tours within Europe and international 7’s tournaments in Australia, Canada, Dubai, South Africa and beyond. The A-As have maintained an association with rugby charity ‘Wooden Spoon’ since 2004.
