Eccles began the first half fired up and scored 3 tries in the opening 28 mins without response. The Half time score was raised to 24-0 with a try from the captain under the posts. The colts enjoyed long periods in possession but were made to work hard to break out by a physical and committed opponent. Much of the middle part of the match occupied the midfield, but Eccles made full use of a match squad of 22 players and scored 3 tries in the final 20 minutes as the visitors tired.
