This Weekend’s Rugby

Good luck to everyone pulling on the Navy n’ White hoops this weekend. Let’s hope the cold weather doesn’t adversely effect travel or performances. Your support on the touchlines as always will be much appreciated by the players and inside the warm clubhouse will be LIVE 6 Nations Rugby

Saturday 9th February

  • 1XV v CONGLETON 1XV, HOME, KO 2:15pm
  • 1XV Form: WWWWWWL
  • Notes: Saturday will see the 1st team host Congleton in a battle which could swing the race for 2nd spot in the league and in doing so, securing promotion to level 7 next season.  Eccles will be looking to put a wrong right, after going down at Congleton earlier in the season; loosing in a strange game which saw three key Eccles players depart the field in the first 12 minutes of play through injury and some dubious referring decisions around the scrum and breakdown, all of which contributed to the team imploding on the day, instead of problem-solving themselves to victory.  Eccles will see some rotation in the match day squad due to injuries, but this provides an opportunity for other players to step up and prove themselves.

Sunday 3rd February

  • U18 SENIOR COLTS v BROUGHTON PARK, HOME, KO 1pm
  • Colts Form: WLWWWWLWWWW
  • Notes: On Sunday the Senior Colts welcome Broughton Park to Eccles. Last weekend’s Colts Trophy Quarter Final v Bury was cancelled due to weather, so Eccles will be eager to get on a pitch and continue their push for league champions status with a big W over their guests. The Colts have a few key missing players and Broughton Park are capable of spoiling the party so Eccles must be fully focused on the job at hand.
