Congratulations to the Eccles RFC u8s who enjoyed a great day at the Preston Grasshoppers Tournament at the weekend, putting on a really good show representing the club and progressing all the way to the end undefeated. There was a lot of effort involved and some serious try scoring. Here’s a report from u8s Coach Paul Cooke:

“At the end of last season we entered a tournament at Wilmslow RFU, where we encountered all the different emotions in one day. For our first Tournament we did really well and the players enjoyed the whole experience. Since then we’ve carried on the feel good factor and gone from strength to strength throughout the season by becoming a team that is hard to beat, a quality noticed by other teams’ coaches who have commented on it. The club entered us into the Preston Grasshoppers Tournament and we had a good feeling that we could do really well in it as our team are all quick, skillful and all capable of scoring tries in a flash. Little did we know we would come away from the tournament undefeated, we played 5 out of 6 games on the day as Manchester failed to arrive ( we won this game by default) our results were as follows:
HOPPERS BLUE v ECCLES DREW 5-5; MANCHESTER v ECCLES W B D; WATERLOO RED v ECCLES  WON 7-5; ORMSKIRK WHITE v ECCLES      DREW 7-7; ECCLES v HOPPERS RED DREW 6-6; VALE OF LUNE WHITE v ECCLES  WON 7-5.
The Preston tournament was a huge success for us, and one that everyone enjoyed and was proud to be a part of, not just the kids, but also the coaches and the parents too. We are now looking to take our good form onto the WILMSLOW RUGBY FESTIVAL on 28th April and try our best to be undefeated there as well.”

The U7s and U8s are looking for more players to join their team. Boys and Girls welcome.
