Danny Wilson Returns

Eccles RFC are delighted to announce the return of prop Danny Wilson for the 2019/20 season.

Director of Rugby and Head Coach Sam Simpson commented “I’m delighted Danny has chosen to return home to Eccles RFC for the next stage of his senior rugby development. I’m certain many clubs would be interested in recruiting a young Tight Head prop of Danny’s calibre who is equally comfortable on the Loose Head side.
I had the pleasure of working with Danny when he was a junior at Eccles RFC, when he moved from playing in the back row into the front row. He’s always been an extremely powerful ball carrier and never backs down from a physical challenge.
Danny comes back to Eccles with some fantastic learning experiences from the coaches at Durham University and the partnership with Newcastle Falcons they have there, so he’s going to be a really good asset for the group come pre-season.”

Danny added “Whilst away at university I played in the BUCS leagues for Durham. As university is coming to an end I’ve considered my options for rugby at a senior level and coming back to Eccles, where I played as a colt, seemed to be the best choice out there to help me further develop my ability within the senior game. Eccles getting promoted and the club’s reputation for bringing through young players shows that there is a lot of ambition to progress further. I want to be part of the growing team and help achieve back-to-back promotions. I’m looking forward to next season being back where I started playing rugby with a great bunch of lads.”
